What is Japanese tea?

Japanese tea is a category of green tea produced using traditional Japanese methods. It includes varieties such as sencha, matcha, gyokuro, and houjicha. The method of cultivation and processing of the leaves influences their taste and aroma, making Japanese tea an integral part of Japan's culinary culture.

Matcha is a powdered green tea made from whole tea leaves. By consuming it, you absorb all the nutritional properties of the leaves. It is distinguished by its intense flavor and vibrant green color. Matcha is used in the tea ceremony, as well as in desserts and drinks like the matcha latte.

How do you consume matcha?

To prepare matcha, a special whisk called a "chasen" is used to mix the powder with hot water until a light foam is obtained. It can be consumed as "usucha" (thin tea) or "koicha" (thick tea). It can also be used to prepare desserts or drinks.
